Suzie & Tiny
arrived to us 6 months ago in the most horrendous state; skin and bone with matted dirty hair. They are 10 years old and were used for a life time of breeding.
They have settled in well and are like an old married couple. Grumbling away at each other all the time but yet each would be lost without the other. They love their walks and a potter in the garden together. They love human attention and heaven would be a cozy bed in front of the fire. They would suit a home where they would be the only pets as they are so used to having just each other.
Tiny is neutered and overall is in good health. Suzie is not spayed as when she went for her surgery we discovered that her kidneys were under a lot of pressure. She would need to be supervised at all times outdoors just to keep her safe. Tiny had to have lots of teeth removed as they were completely rotten & he was treated for a really bad ear infection. Suzie is clinically blind from an untreated eye condition that is very easily managed.
The fact that she can’t see her new environment or anyone approaching her is a hurdle with any change of routine.
We are more than happy to let them retire with us here and live out the remainder of their lives at the shelter. However, we are willing to give them into a loving retirement foster home together as long as the family can meet their needs. They deserve some pampering for the rest of their lives.
Poppy
Poppy was adopted from us 3 months ago and much to our surprise she was suddenly returned to us. Poppy was happy to see us again but it is very difficult for any dog who is used to the comforts of a home and family, to suddenly find themselves alone and in a strange environment.
Poppy is 6 months old and through absolutely no fault of her own, she is once again looking for a forever home. She is a Newfoundland X Collie so she will be LARGE in size and with that collie mix in her she will be active. Newfoundlands are a “giant” breed so be prepared for the size she will grow to. She is also still very much a baby and will be happy and excited and boisterous at times so young children would not be able to handle her at this stage of her life.
Like all Newfoundlands, Poppy is fairly calm and easygoing. She is affectionate and playful with nearly everyone and is a complete softie. She would love a home where she can have lots of fun and is spoiled and loved. We are looking for an indoor home so that she can become part of the family. She will need someone home most of the day to help her with all aspects of being a healthy & happy dog. She will also need some time and patience to adjust to a new home. She will need continued training with lead walking as she is quite large and strong. She will need plenty of exercise, mental stimulation and lots of proper socialization. A very secure garden with high boundaries is a must.
Please ensure everyone in the family has fully considered the responsibility of adopting a very large dog and caring for it for the next 10 - 15 years. She is chipped, vaccinated and toilet trained. You must undertake a commitment to have her spayed as soon as she is old enough. This will be followed up on.

Connie (reserved)
Hold on to your heart ….. this is Connie
Connie is 8 years old and has stolen everyone’s heart here at the centre. She is just beautiful. She is tiny and so chilled out.
She tries over for a cuddle and then trots off to watch everything that’s going on around her. She is a a wise old soul and very quiet. She will make the most amazing companion and lap dog for anyone. She is healthy and happy and deserves a great home after ending up in the pound
She gets on great with all the other dogs at the centre. She loves a good trot around the yard and would love a home with a secure garden to investigate and have a good sniff in.
Jenny
This gorgeous girl is 3 months old and arrived to us last week with her two sisters. She is a collie X kelpie. She is chipped and has had her first vaccination. Jenny would benefit from an ACTIVE owner with previous experience of this type of breed. Someone who will provide her with the physical exercise she needs.
These cross-breed dogs are intelligent, super energetic, friendly and fiercely loyal. Jenny is already very driven and focused with that “herding” gene. She has LOTS of energy that needs to be harnessed and used in a way that will satisfy her natural instincts such as agility or trailing. Activities that will “redirect” her attention onto something positive.
Jenny will need an indoor home with a VERY secure garden as this breed is able to jump very high. She will need TIME and patience to adjust to a new home and all aspects of training that comes with living indoors. You will also need to agree to spay her once she is old enough.
Please do your research and think long and hard about your plans for the next 10 to 15 years and how a dog will fit in with all those plans. Is your housing situation stable? Can you afford the food and veterinary treatment she will need over their lifetime? Are you planning to have children? Who will mind her when you want to go on holidays? Are you willing to invest the time and energy to train, socialise and exercise this beautiful breed.
Research the breed Kelpies and border collies are very high energy breeds. If you don't you could end up with a very frustrated & destructive dog on your hands. They need a lot of exercise to be their happiest selves. A good jog combined with the mental exercise of obedience lessons should be done daily. They prefer to have a job to do (they will try to herd other dogs, pets, even children), but they also have an ‘off’ switch. They can do a five-mile run, then settle on the couch with the family to watch a movie.
